Submission Preparation Checklist
- All manuscripts must be original i.e. must not have been published or submitted for publication in any other Journal.
- The manuscripts submitted for publication must be written in English Language (British English) and typed double-spaced on A4 size paper, using Microsoft Office Word, Times New Roman style and in 12 font (except footnotes which should be in 10 font).
- All references must be footnoted. For the avoidance of any doubt, in-text referencing and endnotes are not acceptable.
- The KIULJ adopts the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA). Contributors are therefore advised to comply strictly with this Reference Guide failing which their manuscripts will not be processed for publication. OSCOLA is now in its 4th edition and can be accessed online via www.law.ox.ac.uk/sites/files/oxlaw/oscola.
- Papers/articles should not be more than 6000 words while case reviews or other reviews should not exceed 4000 words.
- All papers must contain an abstract of between 150 and 250 words. The abstract must be italicized, typed single-spaced and must not be indented. It must incorporate all the basic elements of a good abstract i.e. introduction, objective(s), methodology, summary of findings, conclusion and recommendation(s).
- Each manuscript must have a title page. The title page is the first page of the main paper. It should contain only the title of the paper, the abstract and author’s personal details that is, name, institutional affiliations, email addresses and telephone numbers.
- All manuscripts should be submitted to these email address: [email protected]
- All manuscripts should reach the above email addresses on or before the date assigned for each Author. Note that the deadline is sacrosanct; it is only the manuscripts that are submitted within the stipulated time that will be considered for review.
Peer review process
- All manuscripts shall be subjected to peer review/assessment. Contributors shall be duly informed of the status of their manuscripts immediately after the review. Note that in order to ensure full compliance with the journal’s house style, the Editorial Board reserves the right to edit or modify any manuscript after same has been accepted for publication.
Plagiarism Tests
The originality of each submission shall be evaluated using the Turnitin plagiarism checker. For KIULJ manuscripts, a maximum permissible similarity index (plagiarism) of 20% is allowed.
